West Carrollton welcomed Jersey Mike’s Subs on Wednesday, August 12th and celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 654 E. Dixie Drive. Mayor Rick Barnhart, members of City Council, and City staff joined franchise owner Ted Tolliver and the Jersey Mike’s team for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially welcome the restaurant to the community. West Carrollton Schools celebrated the opening of the new West Carrollton Middle/High School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, August 10th. Mayor Rick Barnhart, members of the City Council, City Manager Amber Holloway, and City staff joined West Carrollton School Board members, school staff, and members of the community for the celebration. AT&T Fiber Installation Underway in West Carrollton
AT&T has begun installing its fiber-optic network in neighborhoods throughout West Carrollton. The project will be completed in sections, with construction crews moving through different areas of the city as work progresses. Residents should watch for AT&T door hangers, which are typically distributed approximately 72 hours before construction begins in an area. Yard signs may also be placed nearby to identify active work locations. Construction crews are installing underground fiber-optic cable within utility easements. During the July 28, 2026, City Council meeting, West Carrollton City Council Member Mike Boyle announced his resignation, effective immediately following the meeting. Boyle is resigning as he will no longer reside within the West Carrollton city limits and is therefore ineligible to continue serving on the City Council. West Carrollton City Council recognized the academic achievements of the West Carrollton High School Class of 2026 Valedictorian and Salutatorian during its June 9th meeting. Mayor Rick Barnhart and members of City Council presented a resolution honoring Koen Hicswa, Class of 2026 Valedictorian, and Makenna McCune, Class of 2026 Salutatorian. West Carrollton Names Jonah Nassmacher as Fire Captain
The City of West Carrollton Fire Department has promoted Jonah Nassmacher to Fire Captain, recognizing more than a decade of service, training, and leadership within the department. Nassmacher said his interest in the fire service began at an early age. He had wanted to become a firefighter since childhood, with a high school job shadow experience helping confirm that path. River District Update: Phase 2A
Progress continues in the River District as Phase 2A of the redevelopment project is now underway. Contractor crews are currently on-site installing new traffic signal infrastructure and relocating overhead electrical lines underground as part of ongoing utility and roadway improvements within the district.
